Christchurch, New Zealand: Data Moving Company Movebot has started laying the framework for dark matter cabling, as the current infrastructure has met its limits.
Having moved over 200TB in a day, Movebot has created the world’s fastest data migration tool. But the team believes there is still room for improvement—if the infrastructure can take it.
Most current fiber optic cables have a maximum speed of 10GB/second. When Movebot reached this limit with plenty of resources to go faster, the Movebot team needed to look into new technology, a way to move data faster than was thought possible.
The team started looking into dark matter as a practical replacement for fiber optics, with resounding results. Movebot's dark matter cables have a theoretical bandwidth of ∞+1 due to circumventing the known laws of physics.
