SkyKick Overview
SkyKick refers to a few different products: Cloud Backup, SaaS Security, Cloud Automation, and Cloud Migration. Since Movebot only does migrations, we’ll be comparing Movebot with Cloud Migration, and any references to SkyKick will be to their migration tool (formerly known as SkyKick Cloud Migration).
SkyKick has been around for a long time, but was acquired by ConnectWise in September 2024, mostly for its backup capabilities. In their press release about the acquisition, ConnectWise said, “SkyKick offers the most comprehensive Microsoft 365 cloud backup solution, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Office 365 Groups and Microsoft Teams.” Because of this, a lot of the effort has gone into improving the backup product and will continue to do so.
Movebot overview
Movebot is a leading data migration tool thanks to the massive platform support and flexibility. A lot of migration tools (like SkyKick), have one or a couple of destinations they can migrate into. And if that’s what you need, great.

Platform Support
Platform support is probably the most important part of a data migration tool. If your platform isn't supported, you can't use the tool, so there’s no point in comparing further.
SkyKick platform integrations
With SkyKick, the final destination is clear: you’ll be moving into Microsoft 365. They only support Microsoft, with sources including Google, IMAP, POP, and other Microsoft tenants. While they’re limited in platform support, for the ones they do support, it’s comprehensive. Calendars, contacts, labels, signatures, and chats can all be moved to Microsoft 365.
Movebot platform integrations
Movebot goes a different direction with integrations. Instead of focusing on one destination, Movebot is platform agnostic, with support for over 30 platforms. And you can choose whether they are the source or the destination. This gives you maximum flexibility; for options to move what you want, where you want, when you want, Movebot’s the tool you’ll want.
That flexibility extends to specific transfers as well. You don’t have to transfer all of a user’s data directly to another user. You can break it down as needed down to the folder level. And it doesn’t have to go to an identical name like UserA@domain.com to UserA@domain2.com either. While Movebot can automatically map out users like that across the domain in an instant, if you want to make some changes and map those transfers in Movebot, like UserA@domain.com to CoolNewName@domain2.com, you can.
Platform integrations comparison
When it comes to comprehensive migrations of all kinds of content from a few chosen sources into Microsoft 365, SkyKick does well. But for anything else, like moving out of Microsoft 365 or into any other platform, Movebot’s the only option between the two.

Getting started and trying the product out is important, because it doesn’t matter how great a product sounds in theory if it doesn’t work in practice.

Now that SkyKick is part of ConnectWise, everything is done through their website. Signing up involves going to the ConnectWise site, choosing to get started, then building out a profile to be contacted later. From there, someone will get in touch to go over next steps.
There’s no option to self-sign up or start a free trial on your own.

Connecting platforms is just as easy. Most require a simple connection via OAuth, and the ones that require extra steps still only take a few minutes at most. When setting up a storage connection, you’ll be given the fields to complete and instructions for connections that require more steps.

Customer support
In most instances, a good migration tool will do the job without issues. But if you ever do run into an issue or have a concern, you’ll want to know how you’ll be taken care of.
SkyKick customer support
Some older reviews mention some customers having trouble getting help from Support, but those were before the acquisition from ConnectWise. Now, you can submit a ticket for help or get a call, with their goal of solving the ticket accurately on one call.
There’s minimal information about how Support has changed since the acquisition and how dedicated SkyKick support varies from other products.

Even though Movebot migrations go without issue for the vast majority of projects, there’s always the chance for hiccups when different systems try to communicate with each other. Those communication issues don’t apply to getting in touch with Support.

On Channel Program, SkyKick has about 4.5 stars with 8 reviews, all from before their acquisition with the latest review in September 2023. At that time, users were pleased with SkyKick, saying it did what it said on the tin. Recent sentiment on other sites like Reddit is more mixed, with some saying they’ve had issues with support and that costs are high.
Movebot user experience
Movebot is also on Channel Program, with about 4.5 stars and 12 reviews. Speed, support experience, and platform compatibility are mentioned as huge positives. The most common negative is around the number of features, but new ones are added regularly since Movebot is still in active development, with the goal of having each migration experience be better and easier than the last.

Both products are good at what they do, and users are likely to have a good experience with either.
Choosing between SkyKick and Movebot for data migrations
